good for you snacks…

okay, so some of my buddies know i have done away with snacks. except sometimes on weekends or special occasions. as a binge eating and emotional eater i’m interested in seeing if this will make a difference. but i know that most people are consuming 1-3 snacks a day, so we better make them healthy ones!
another thing to add. quick- snacks such as soda, candies, white breads cause spikes and crashes in your blood sugar.leaving you feeling cranky and still hungry. it’s best to maintain an even, steady keel. suggestions include:
whole wheat bagels
melba toast
popcorn
low-fat granola/dry cereal
wheat pretzels
FRUITS/VEGGIES. be a little more careful with dried fruits or juices. usually high in calories.
yogurt
cheese
hard-boiled egg
nuts/ nut butter
soup
gotta have that snack you’ve been craving?
sweets- dark chocolate covered strawberries, fruit smoothie, lf/ff choc. milk or hot choc., popcycles/frozen yogurt, 100 cal. packs.
salty- pretzels, nuts, oven-baked tortilla strips or potato wedges, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, 100 cal. packs.
how to outwit a food craving- tackle the emotions behind your feeding frenzies. stress, depression, anger, boredom, can all trigger a craving. writing down how you feel may help. try doing some light exercise. even stretching can help. breathe in deeply until you begin to feel in control. think of alternative foods. have a plan. if you’re always craving choc. keep your eyes open for alternatives (ff pudding, trail mix etc.). keep tabs on the nutrients your getting. make sure you are getting enough fiber, protien, iron, and vitamins.
great blog…
I have to watch that too.
I like meringe cookies. They are 13 for 120 cals and no fat. They satisfy me when I got the urge for something sweet!
